Public Lending Right

Sylvia Crooks, Author of “Homefront and Battlefront” sent us a helpful link. She reminds authors that they can receive payment from libraries for the use of their books.

This payment is called the “Public Lending Right” and is calculated by counting the number of books that any one author has in public libraries. Authors must register to receive this payment and can do so by following the directions on the website during the period when registration is open. Mark your calendars:

Next registration period: 15 February to 1 May 2009

This payment is different from the copyright royalty, which will be the topic of another post.
