Ruth Olde

.

Ruth Olde was born in Winnipeg on a spring day and left on the doorstep of a kindly minister and his wife. She grew up in the back pews of a church, so you know everything she says is honest and true, especially when it comes to landscape design.
She raised six children while studying design and continued to raise them while creating gardens. She was still raising them when gardens she had designed began winning awards. Many of her designs include play areas for children and secluded places for adults, a combination that ensures sanity, which Ruth still has.
When her children were old enough to feed themselves, Ruth began volunteering for civic duty in their town of Maple Ridge, B.C. She served on a least one committee for each child, helped design the future growth of the city and also helped others set up their own small businesses.
She and her life partner Gunther Blasig run Blasig Landscape Design and Construction Ltd. in Maple Ridge, located 40 km (25 miles) east of Vancouver in the scenic Fraser Valley. Her employees are ordered to think of her as a kind and understanding boss.
On the speaking circuit, attendees use such words as excellent, provocative and humorous to describe her lively presentations.
