New Liberalism

New Liberalism

Matthew Kalkman

A century ago, liberalism was modernized to tackle the challenges of the time. Today, liberalism must again be renewed to ensure that freedom is protected for future generations. For a society to be maintained and evolve, its members must embrace what Matthew Kalkman calls ‘positive freedom’. This term—coined by him and endorsed by Bob Rae—encompasses the vision of a common humanity extending to all people on this planet.

Reviews and Testmonials:

His concept of timeless freedom is of much interest to all who want an effective, compact state which is characterized by free, empowered citizens who have the possibility to shape their own futures. The state must make the pursuit of happiness a possibility, but not a guarantee. Liberalism brings together the free market on the one hand and free society, civil liberties, human rights, the rule of law, and democracy on the other. They are different sides of the same coin and cannot be separated.
New Liberalism builds upon this idea. It is a must read.
